Quite simply, a protected activity is a task that you add to your job plan that has to occur as planned and cannot be reduced by Priority activities or Priority templates.
Adding the protected status to an activity is one of the Options which you completed at the end of adding an activity:
An example of a protected activity might be a theatre session that occurs every 4 weeks but must proceed as planned regardless of any Consultant of the Week/on-call activity or other priority task. Where this occurs, the expectation is that the reduction in activities would occur in the other three planned weeks and protect the delivery of the theatre session.
NOTE: There may be some scenarios, where it is not possible to protect an activity and this would occur when the protection of activities results in occurrences over the Attending/working weeks setting.
