Conflicts occur when two or more activities happen at the same time or overlap. This is most likely to happen when there are multiple combinations of cycles/frequencies including monthly activities but may also occur where weeks overlap due to Priority Activities.
To resolve the conflicting activities, you should:
- Identify where the conflict is occurring.
- Use the “By schedule” tab for this task because this provides a list of all categories together. Your conflicting activities may not all be in the same category of work such as DCC.
- Click on the red exclamation mark next to an activity – this will highlight in red, the activities that are conflicting.
- Review the activity start and end times to see whether one starts before the other has finished.
- If there is no obvious overlap in the times, then you should check the schedule (please see the example below).
From the screenshot above you can see that, although the start and end times do not create an overlap the schedule will coincide every sixth week.
- YOU WILL NEED TO EDIT THE ACTIVITY USING THE PENCIL ICON AND ADJUST EITHER THE START/END TIMES OR THE SCHEDULE TO RESOLVE A CONFLICT.
NOTE: When conflicting activities happen because of Priority tasks or templates, you should solve this by adjusting the routine/elective work. For job plans where more than 25% of the activities are causing conflicts, you may wish to speak to your Administrator initially.
